my first

finally, i'm officially employed in this law firm.  i remember that i once told myself that i wanna be a part of a law firm before i take my bar in order to familiarize myself with the practice and of course, for better understanding of the field. ALAS after more or less 10 months, he kept his promise, he gave me a job, i'm taking about atty. antonio enrile inton, aka councilor ariel inton, the former majority floor leader of the qc council during his stint as a city councilor.

my first few assignments involved legislative work - mostly city ordinances and there's one to be proposed nationwide thru the efforts of bistek, its for the MMFF-P beneficiaries; i've done one house bill too, for no less than the speaker of the house, speaker sonny belmonte, cool isn't :)  we'll i consider myself privileged for having done at least one bill which the speaker himself would defend.

during my first few weeks in the firm, i wanted to decline from doing legis stuff, i wanna do pleadings and all that, i wanna be like my lawyer friends who does pleadings, goes to the court, and gets stressed like hell ..... until my prayers were answered.....

initially, ariel (yeah, first name basis) would asked me to meet him at the court in order for me to hand him over the draft of the ordinance/bill, but since i wanna observe the hearing, i would opt to stay and watch, which he appreciates.  the thing is, the presiding judge is such a cutee, instead of paying attention to the merits of the case, i would often stare at the judge and text my friends as to how cute he is and how happy i was to be there at his court.

after several hearings and since it was a special hearing for our petition to bail, we finally reached the end of such, both parties were advised by the judge to file a memo 10 days from that day (deadline falls on june 13), still that didn't interest me, actually, i was even saddened by that since i would be able to see judge anymore, oh well. after the hearing, while ariel was talking to our client (accused) along the corridor, i was called to join them UNTIL ariel handed me over the entire case file and told me to write the memorandum myself, WHAT THE F*CK DUDE! i know nuthin abt that effin case!  but since i don't have a choice, i took the case file and brought it home. of course i couldn't refuse and tell him that i wasn't listening during the direct, cross, etc. i've got no choice but to take the job and give it my best shot.  HELL isn't it, kilig days are over :s

well, he gave me pointers on what to write in the memo and gave me a bird's eye view of the facts of the case, but still, those aren't enough.  i brought out all pleadings inside envelope and yes it measures 2 inches in height, i've gotta read every pleading and the TSNs, F*CK!!  i worked on it every single day and night, brought out my books and other materials; tried my best to remember the classroom discussions with regard to criminal law, corporation code and labor law, D*MN huh!  i was able to finish the draft and emailed it to ariel wednesday evening, come thrusday morning, at 7:20AM, while i was trying to enjoy my stint in dreamland, he gave me a call and asked me to open my laptop, GRRRGREAT!! and so i did, i opened my laptop and called him up after like 10 mins.  we stayed on the phone for like 20 minutes, he asked me to write some additional points and asked me to email it to him once i'm done with such, but since i wanna go back to sleep, i asked him if i could do it in the afternoon since i wanna go back to sleep again, and luckily he said yes :)

i started working on the memo around 10am and was able to email the same to him at around 4:30pm, not bad :) the following day, he informed me that he's happy with the memo, he didn't revised any portion of it, he said he'll print it as it is :)   NYEBA!!!!!!!! by the way, the memorandum was 26 pages, haha!

to date, he gave me several case files already, i have that qualified theft case, 1 physical injuries, 1 estafa case, and 3 cases of estafa & BP 22.  i guess i'm doing a good job, he wouldn't entrust those cases with me if he thinks i'm not yet ready for the job!

all i can is, congratulations!!!!!!!  ........ if only i could share this with my father, things would have been happier.

and oh, thank you ariel for taking me to your team!

are you for real

i met this guy thru the app "wechat", of course we chatted and then on the same night he called (still thru the app).  this guy claims to be a holder of a UK passport, according to him he moved to UK in 1995 and acquired the citizenship in 2001 (if true, definitely a turn on huhh).  he was born and raised in pakistan until such transfer.  also, he claims to be a manager for an oil and gas company in abu dhabi, according to him he handles other GCC countries as well, pretty big time, another turn on indeed!

per our conversation last night, he blurted out stuff regarding engagement and marriage.  he wants to travel to manila really soon, before he leaves to houston, texas in june 21.  he wants the engagement to be done while he's here (too fast isn't, WHY????).  his plan is that he could fly to manila or i could go to AUH while i'm still in school, but once i'm done, he wants me to live with him there (hell no, not again!!)

now my predicament is that, what if this guy is true?  what if his intentions are pure and sincere?  damn dude, i'm totally dead!!  i didn't expect things to be like this, i chatted because it's summer and i've got nuthin to be busy about most of the time.  am i ready to commit myself to him?  what about my dream of practicing law, of course i wouldn't put that into the drain, fyi, i spent 4 years and counting to be able to acquire that prefix and now this? of course not, i would only go to countries where i could practice law, like the US.  sigh, i dunno, right now all i'm wishing is that he's a fake, that he's a fraud ... that he's not a UK citizen and doesn't work as a manager, then i'll drop him like a hot potato.

but why is that, you might be wondering huhh ... coz with my experience in dxb, most pakistanis are laborers, drivers or sumthin that populates the lower rank of the work force pyramid.  if that guy belongs to that rank, then i would rather dump him asap, of course i want to have a bright future not just for me but also for my family, my future family.

well, well, well .... let's wait and see til i get hold of his passport, haha!  yes, i would definitely ask him to send me a copy of such document.  till then, ciao!
