HARRY POTTER and the HALF-BLOOD PRINCE

The much awaited Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, also known as Book 6, was really an awesome book. Before I go into the details of the said book, let me just share my experience before I got hold of my own copy of book 6. Here it goes ….

Two days before its release, that was like July 14, I was already having a hard time getting my sleep, I was so damn excited about the book. I often visit the Harry Potter site. I, together with some Potter freak friends often discuss and share some insights about the upcoming book. One day to go, July 15, I was already counting the hours before I finally get a hold of the book. I even restrained myself from some gimmicks to be able to save, my budget was P1,800.00. I didn’t made any reservations that’s why I made it a point to go to the nearest bookstore in the following morning. True enough, I hurried to National Book Store, Q. Ave branch by 12:00nn, to my surprise, there were no books left on the shelf, the ones that they have were that for the peeps who are in their reservation list – DAMN!!! As in D-A-M-N!!!! I wanted to rush to NBS SM North, to Fully-Booked Greenhills, Page 1 Mega Mall, or to any book store that still sells HP6, but I cant, I have a workshop to attend to at 1PM. I was trying my best to get in-touch with some friends who could possibly get me a copy and I’ll just pay him/her that same night … too bad, no one was going to the mall!

I felt really bad, I wanted to cry! During my seminar, I couldn’t concentrate well because I was so affected, “I want it NOW” – my line for that day. But there’s nothing I could do, I have to prioritize the workshop, and I did. The workshop was done by 10PM.

The following day, I still couldn’t get my mind off the book, I wanted to go bookstore hopping but I don’t have a car. So I settled on the phone, I called up the PLDT directory assistance to ask for the number of Fully-Booked and NBS … any branch is fine. I first called NBS Cubao, then Greenhills – no more HP6 available, they wanted to place me under the waiting list, nahhh, thanks. I called up Fully-Booked Gateway, to my luck, they still have, tons of it! :-D I made a reservation by phone and told the lady that I’ll pick it up the following day before 3PM! And so I did!!! :-D yahoo!!!

I started reading the book, it’s addicting - once popped, you can’t stop! Hahaha Pringles’ tag line! I first thought that the Half-Blood Prince was Voldemort, but it wasn’t … it was Snape! I knew that someone would die, but I wasn’t expecting it to be Dumbledore! And who’s R.A.B., the one who took the real Slytherin’s locket? – is it a new character JK Rowling will introduce in book 7, or is it Regulus Black, Sirius’s younger brother? Will Ron and Hermione, and, Lupin and Tonks end up together? Would Harry ask Ginny back? Will Hogwarts still be open for the next school year? Would Harry go back to Hogwarts still? Who’s gonna be DADA professor now that Snape flew back to Voldemort? Will Mc Gonagall remain the Head Mistress? What will happen to Bill now that his been bitten by Greyback? Four horcruxes still remaining to be located, would it be possible to find all those four in book 7?

Personally speaking, I didn’t like the way Dumbledore died. It’s like its been fast forwarded. Just with one spell??? Avada Kedavra?!!? That’s it? No more-No less? I thought Dumbledore is a very great wizard … well yeah the potion which he drank from the cave, still … that’s it? Huhh, weird!

Oh well, lots of questions runnin into my mind right now, hang-over from book 6 eh. I even felt li’l down after reading that book, the fact that Dumbledore died … it saddens me.

Oh well, book 6 is a must-read HP book! I love the story, it’s twists and all, great! But, my loyalty (if there’s such thing applicable) is still with book 3, its wit, drama, twists and all, wheww!! GALING, the best HP book ever written. I love Sirius Black, book 3 made me cry, like twice.
